Brooklyn Museum Beaux Arts Court
In a project that beautifully melded the past with the present, MYND Workshop took on the task of documenting the Beaux Arts court of The Brooklyn Museum, a gem in the heart of Brooklyn, NY. This iconic space, known for its architectural elegance and historical significance, was captured in its entirety through meticulous laser scanning, setting the stage for a modern artistic endeavor.
The primary aim of this project was to create a comprehensive 3D model of the Beaux Arts court, which would serve as the foundation for an innovative 3D projection mapping installation. This endeavor was not only about enhancing the visual experience for museum visitors but also about offering a new perspective on the interaction between classical architecture and contemporary digital art.
Moreover, the detailed scans and resulting 3D model provided invaluable data for general event planning within the museum. The precise floor plans and measurements extracted from the 3D model facilitated efficient space planning, allowing for the optimal arrangement of installations, exhibitions, and gatherings in this grandiose setting. The 3D Mesh model will also prove to be useful for future events where the geometry of the space can be useful.
The project underscored MYND Workshop's capability to harness cutting-edge technology to serve both artistic and practical purposes. By transforming the Beaux Arts court into a canvas for digital projection, MYND Workshop helped bridge the gap between the museum's historical roots and its forward-thinking cultural initiatives. This endeavor not only showcased the versatility of 3D modeling in enhancing cultural spaces but also demonstrated how digital innovation can breathe new life into historical landmarks, ensuring their relevance and appeal in a contemporary context.
